Overpseudoprimes, and Mersenne and Fermat numbers as primover numbers

We introduce a new class of pseudoprimes-so called "overpseudoprimes to base bb", which is a subclass of strong pseudoprimes to base bb. Denoting via bn|b|_n the multiplicative order of bb modulo nn, we show that a composite nn is overpseudoprime if and only if bd|b|_d is invariant for all divisors d>1d>1 of nn. In particular, we prove that all composite Mersenne numbers 2p12^{p}-1, where pp is prime, are overpseudoprime to base 2 and squares of Wieferich primes are overpseudoprimes to base 2. Finally, we show that some kinds of well known numbers are overpseudoprime to a base bb.Comment: 9 page

Shaping an Itinerant Quantum Field by Dissipation

We show that inducing sidebands in the emission of a single emitter into a one dimensional waveguide, together with a dissipative re-pumping process, a photon field is cooled down to a squeezed vacuum. Our method does not require to be in the strong coupling regime, works with a continuum of propagating field modes and it may lead to sources of tunable multimode squeezed light in circuit QED systems.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

Abstract The explanations of the topics of analysis of bodies as well as of their sections and intersections among if they are usually some topics that they are difficult to assimilate for the pupil. On the other hand the making of problems on these topics also introduces its difficulties to the professor as for inserting the problem appropriately in its positions and measures to make it compatible with the limits of the format used for its resolution. In the present report these topics are approached by means of a treatment that involves the making of scale models 3D that allow the professor to develop these topics and to make presentations with virtual scale models, susceptible of movements, to show the solutions as well as to make the analyses that are considered opportune. Emerging archetypes in massive artificial societies for literary purposes using genetic algorithms

The creation of fictional stories is a very complex task that usually implies a creative process where the author has to combine characters, conflicts and plots to create an engaging narrative. This work presents a simulated environment with hundreds of characters that allows the study of coherent and interesting literary archetypes (or behaviours), plots and sub-plots. We will use this environment to perform a study about the number of profiles (parameters that define the personality of a character) needed to create two emergent scenes of archetypes: "natality control" and "revenge". A Genetic Algorithm (GA) will be used to find the fittest number of profiles and parameter configuration that enables the existence of the desired archetypes (played by the characters without their explicit knowledge). The results show that parametrizing this complex system is possible and that these kind of archetypes can emerge in the given environment. This work has been supported in part by FPU research grant AP2009-2942 and projects EvOrq (TIC-3903), CANUBE (CEI2013-P-14) and ANYSELF (TIN2011-28627-C04-02)

Euclid preparation: XXVI The Euclid Morphology Challenge: Towards structural parameters for billions of galaxies

Artículo escrito por un elevado número de autores, solo se referencian el que aparece en primer lugar, el nombre del grupo de colaboración, si le hubiere, y los autores pertenecientes a la UAMThe various Euclid imaging surveys will become a reference for studies of galaxy morphology by delivering imaging over an unprecedented area of 15 000 square degrees with high spatial resolution. In order to understand the capabilities of measuring morphologies from Euclid-detected galaxies and to help implement measurements in the pipeline of the Organisational Unit MER of the Euclid Science Ground Segment, we have conducted the Euclid Morphology Challenge, which we present in two papers. While the companion paper focusses on the analysis of photometry, this paper assesses the accuracy of the parametric galaxy morphology measurements in imaging predicted from within the Euclid Wide Survey. We evaluate the performance of five state-of-the-art surface-brightness-fitting codes, DeepLeGATo, Galapagos-2, Morfometryka, ProFit and SourceXtractor++, on a sample of about 1.5 million simulated galaxies (350 000 above 5s) resembling reduced observations with the Euclid VIS and NIR instruments. The simulations include analytic Sérsic profiles with one and two components, as well as more realistic galaxies generated with neural networks. We find that, despite some code-specific differences, all methods tend to achieve reliable structural measurements (< 10% scatter on ideal Sérsic simulations) down to an apparent magnitude of about IE = 23 in one component and IE = 21 in two components, which correspond to a signal-to-noise ratio of approximately 1 and 5, respectively. We also show that when tested on non-analytic profiles, the results are typically degraded by a factor of 3, driven by systematics. We conclude that the official Euclid Data Releases will deliver robust structural parameters for at least 400 million galaxies in the Euclid Wide Survey by the end of the mission. We find that a key factor for explaining the different behaviour of the codes at the faint end is the set of adopted priors for the various structural parameter

Enclave, atalaya y meta.
